0th April 2010...JAC unanimously decides to go ahead with the Indefinite Strike from 0600 hrs. on 20.04.2010. BSNL employees and officers go on an indefinite strike from Tuesday as part of their nationwide agitation beginning Monday midnight in support of their demands. Staff would not attend to repairs when complaints poured in later. The JAC of BSNL executive and non-executive unions and associations which would spearhead the strike told a press conference that the BSNL voice and data services might not be affected in the first few days of the agitation as the entire network of operations was mechanized. The strike was inevitable in protest against the government's move to implement recommendations of a committee headed by Sam Pitroda that suggested, among others, 30 per cent disinvestment in the public sector telecom company. The strike was not aimed for the benefit of employees but to protect the company. Who protect consumer from inconveniences???
